Museum of Western Art Raises the Flags of America

The Museum of Western Art is proud to participate in the nation’s semiquincentennial celebration and will host a special outdoor exhibition opening this spring.

Darrell Beauchamp, Executive Director of the Museum of Western Art, said the exhibit is named Stars, Stripes and States, a Salute to Our Nation. “We estimate installation date will be mid-March and it will stay up until mid-August. On one side of our entrance driveway, we will display each of the 50 state flags in our union. On the other side, we will display the 27 different flags that have flown under the umbrella of the U.S. since its inception in 1776.” Individual flags have been offered for sponsorship to the public.

Beauchamp said, “Many people have become excited about this patriotic salute and have sponsored a flag for many reasons including to honor their home state, the state of an ancestor, where they went to school, served in the military or just enjoyed visiting.” At press time, only 13 states remained for sponsorship, which includes signage on the pole, publicity and the flag itself once the exhibit is over. For those interested in sponsoring a flag at $250, contact the museum for availability at (830)896-2553 or email [email protected].
